WE ARE TRYING TO ADAPT QUICKLY TO THE FASTLY CHANGING TECHNOLOGY

Dear Readers,

We are entering the Summer of 2024 with hope and enthusiasm. Last year, we experienced difficult days due to the ongoing impact of the pandemic, the earthquake disaster centered in Kahramanmaras, economic fluctuations and a long election process. Despite this, the ceramic industry continued on its way by producing. According to the "Turkey Export Contribution Index" prepared by the Turkish Ceramics Federation, the construction ceramics sector was the sector that made the highest contribution to exports in 2023 with a ratio of 11,0.

Our extremely modern production facilities and our motivation to continue producing under all conditions provide the ceramic industry with a special position in the field of exports. We have manufacturers who have facilities that are integrated with Industry 4.0 and have been implemented with large investments of millions of dollars, pointed out as the "production facility of the future" by important structures such as the World Economic Forum. The world's first and only 100% recycled ceramic sink, the world's first and largest porcelain plate or the ceramic tableware that crowns the Oscar ceremony are produced in these lands. Anatolia, the cradle of one of the oldest cultures such as Catalhoyuk founded in B.C. 7000 and where the first ceramics were made, hosts modern production facilities today.

Our industry, built on a very rich cultural history, focuses on concepts that shape the future. Sustainability, use of renewable energy, protection of natural resources, increasing efficiency, reducing carbon emissions, eco-design and recycling shape production activities in order to leave a better world to new generations. In accordance with the 4th Industrial Revolution, artificial intelligence, cyber systems, etc. are now on our agenda too. Technology is changing very quickly and we are trying to keep up with the same speed.

Our UNICERA fair, which was held between 6-10 November last year, will take the pulse of the ceramic industry on 4-8 November this year. We are proud to have successfully organized Turkey's largest and the world's second largest fair in its field. Many new products appeared on the scene at this fair; sustainability and modern designs came together under the roof of the fair. We also commemorated Gazi Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of our Republic which 100th anniversary has been reached, and our greatest driving force. As he pointed out, industrialization will always be among our greatest national causes. As the Turkish Ceramics Industry, we will work in line with its targets without compromising its principles.

Turkish Ceramics Society, one of the associations under the umbrella of our Federation, will organize the second International Ceramics Biennial in Bursa this year, and as TSF, we are happy to contribute to this event. The biennial asks, "Is it possible to make life better for all humans - and even other living creatures - to live well here and now, and to concentrate on leaving a better world for the future?". As Turkish ceramics, we say "Yes" to this question with its industry, science and art!
