ASSOC. PROF. M. CANDAN GUNGOR
Afyon Kocatepe University Faculty of Fine Arts Ceramics Department Research Assistant Kamuran Ak's solo exhibition titled "Stories from Anatolia" met with the audience at M. Riza Cercel Culture and Art Center between 22 February and 8 March 2024. Ak's works, which consist of wall reliefs and ceramic sculptures, draw attention by creating a new whole by bringing together ceramic pieces that he shaped separately. The works were also presented to the audience from a new perspective, complemented by various firing techniques developed by the artist based on his experiences
Kamuran Ak’s works in the exhibition are evaluated conceptually as follows: “Anatolia, which has hosted many civilizations due to its geographical location, has a rich cultural mosaic. This geography, which paved the way for the birth of various legends, has taken shape in everyone's mind and has been passed on from word to mouth throughout history. "Ak presents Eastern stories such as Simurgh, Phoenix, Basiliks; Marsiyas and Midas stories that integrate with our geography, and Troy and Aeneas stories that extend to the West, as a series of works under the title "Stories from Anatolia", with interpretations specific to his own art.”
