Turkish Cement Manufacturers’ Association (TÜRKÇİMENTO) Board Member Prof. Dr. Yasemin Acik said, "The Association will continue to work towards sustainability, improving product quality, making value-added production with R&D and innovation, and ensuring gender equality in the sector.”
Fatih Yucelik was re-elected as the president at the 66th Ordinary General Assembly of the Turkish Cement Manufacturers’ Association (TÜRKÇİMENTO), which was founded in 1957 and is the umbrella organization of the cement industry with its inclusiveness. Chairman of the Board of Directors of Seza Cimento, which is among the largest private sector investments made in the Eastern Anatolia Region throughout the history of the Republic, Prof. Dr. Yasemin Acik was elected as a Board Member.
Prof. Dr. Yasemin Acik, who has undertaken different duties in TÜRKÇİMENTO since 2016, said that they aim to maintain and develop the sustainability of the cement industry at home and abroad and said: "As the Turkish cement industry, we produce in a total of 77 factories, 56 integrated and 21 grinding, spread across our country. We are one of the leading countries in the world, especially in Europe, in both cement production and cement exports. Therefore, our sector creates significant added value for our country and provides significant employment. In addition to contributing to our economy in general, our businesses in our sector also have a positive impact on the economic and social development of the region in which they are located. Because when we consider our producers as well as supply, logistics and other processes, we create a very large ecosystem that reaches all over our country.”
We continue to work for gender equality in the sector
Prof. Dr. Yasemin Acik who is on the Board of Directors of TURKÇİMENTO, which consists mostly of men, emphasized that the union will continue to work on the development of its members, developing new collaborations, sustainability, increasing product quality, making value-added production with R&D and innovation, and ensuring gender equality in the sector.
Stating that the sector has left behind a difficult year in foreign markets, Prof. Dr. Acik said: “As the Turkish cement industry, we increased our production and domestic market sales in 2023. We continue to compete in exports with our high-quality products and sustainability investments focused on digitalization and green transformation. As a result of these conditions, we anticipate closing 2024 with a picture similar to last year's domestic and export figures.”
