The exhibition titled "Once Upon a Time", in which Elif Aydogdu Agatekin, known for her conceptual and political works, tells her 28-year ceramic story in a chronological flow through her life and the events in her country, was shown at Canakkale Ceramics Museum between 19 April and 28 June.
Ceramic artist and academician Prof. Dr. Elif Aydogdu Agatekin expresses the theme of the exhibition, which she summarizes as a look at what changes when the door of the past is opened, as follows:
“Looking from the past door of this life where everyone comes to learn their own lesson; It's amazing to watch how time changes the past…”
For years, I have expressed the anger, strange anxiety and great fear burning inside me through my ceramics. However, because of my fragile nature, the things that I once stared at are behind me today, the long roads that I continued to travel on became my school that raised me for years, one day everyone was able to come together and respond to all the impositions and pressures like a slap in the face, rebellions started against the genocide that had been going on for years before the eyes of the world, life continued while my loved ones passed away, while injustice and uncontrolled power kept me silent like everyone else, we took refuge in our troubles and multiplied, and on a cold night, unity was remembered again in the ancient lands of this country, which has become a grave for millions…
Nowadays I want to hug that little girl who is still inside me with all her purity and just say, don't be afraid, don't be angry, don't worry, no matter what, time will change and show you the wisdom you can't see…”
