ASSOC. PROF. M. CANDAN GUNGOR

Mugla Sitki Kocman University Faculty Member, ceramic artist Prof. Burcu Karabey met with art lovers at Dibeklihan Culture and Art Village Erdinc Bakla Art Gallery with the "Ocean Feeling" exhibition between 8 June and 4 July. Karabey states that the three-dimensional abstract forms and two-dimensional works in the exhibition invite all viewers to forget our habits such as fast living and consumption, to be in the moment, to think deeply, to move with the rhythm of our planet and all living things in nature, to harmonize with nature and continues as follows:

Welive in fast-paced, sad times; we neither have the time nor the sensitivity to notice that the wind caresses our skin, the dewdrop on the leaf, the sea is sulking, the cloud is smiling, the soil is excited... The endless ocean, which triggers our curiosity with the feeling of discovery, contains peace even though it frightens people; it evokes the feeling of unknown, uncertainty, greatness, infinity, freedom, as well as peace and being one with the outside world. Water has an important place in human life since ancient times; "for example, the ocean was called the "house of wisdom" by the Babylonians".* As we face our vast loneliness; to be able to put aside the worries and passions of life and surrender to the feeling of the ocean in the freedom of the sea... to be able to integrate with nature... The works in this exhibition will encourage all viewers to forget our habits such as fast living and consumption, to be in the moment, to think deeply, to be in the rhythm of the planet and all living things in nature. It invites you to move and harmonize with nature.
