Sisecam published its 2023 sustainability report. It spent approximately 275 million TL on R&D projects in 2023 and allocated 63.5 percent of this to sustainability projects. Sisecam, which spent a total of 387 million TL on the environment last year, reduced the amount of water consumption per unit production by 25 percent compared to 2020.
Sisecam, which has grown with the aim of becoming one of the three largest players in the world in the fields in which it operates, shared all its sustainability-oriented work last year in its 2023 Sustainability Report. Sisecam, which has taken concrete steps towards sustainable growth targets focused on creating value for the planet and all its stakeholders within the scope of its 2030 CareforNext sustainability strategy, achieved 2023 sustainability achievements as follows:
Sisecam allocated 63.5 percent of its 275 million TL expenditure for R&D projects carried out in 2023 to sustainability projects.
The share of sustainable products in turnover was 16.2 percent in the same period.
In line with its mission to support local suppliers, the local supply rate in Sisecam's total purchasing budget was 79.1 percent, and the rate of locally supplied raw materials was 86 percent.
As of 2023, Sisecam's renewable energy installed capacity reached 10 MWp after its solar energy investments in Turkiye and Italy. The amount of water consumption per unit production decreased by 25 percent compared to 2020, decreasing to 3.5 m3 tons.

Drawing the low carbon road map
Since the glass industry is an energy-intensive industry, Sisecam is based on a holistic evaluation of factors such as accessibility, applicability and cost of new production technologies that will be realized using clean energy resources. Sisecam continues its low-carbon road map studies, which were initiated primarily in the field of glass production in 2023, within the scope of the project; aims to identify technology alternatives compatible with the 2050 carbon neutral vision and prioritize them on a regional basis.
The rate of female employees will increase to 25 percent
At Sisecam which supports gender equality for a more equal and shared world, it is aimed to increase the number of female employees, which reached 23.6 percent in 2023 and is currently 5 thousand 671, and to increase the ratio of female employees to at least 25 percent within the scope of the CareforNext strategy.
