EDUCATION SUPPORT FROM CIMKO TO EARTHQUAKE VICTIM CHILDREN

In the Skill Development Centers opened in Hatay and Adiyaman by the SosyalBen Foundation, of which Cimko is one of the supporters, training and workshops are carried out to help children affected by the earthquake overcome the trauma and prevent the loss of physical and social skills.

Cimko, SANKO Holding's locomotive company in the cement and ready-mixed concrete industry, creates economic value and contributes to social development with social activities. Cimko, which carries out social projects primarily in the regions where it operates, focuses on educational activities in this direction.

Cimko, which actively works to heal the wounds of the people of the region and ensure their re-integration into life after the February 6 earthquakes, gave great support to the Skill Development Centers (BEGEM) opened by the SosyalBen Foundation in Hatay and Adiyaman in order to enable children affected by the earthquake to overcome the trauma with social activities. Long-term workshops are organized in safe, educational, instructive and child-friendly BEGEMs, where children between the ages of 7-13 can participate. The project aims to provide opportunities for children to solve problems, express themselves, develop self-confidence and learn from each other.

It turned into a second school

Skill Development Centers, where students attend after school and on weekends and benefit from workshops that continue regularly throughout the summer, have turned into a second school where children have a quality, educational, fun and safe time. In these centers, students participate in garden play activities or joint workshops. They gain skills in games, sports, inventions, painting and agriculture through after-school workshops prepared by experts.  While learning the basics of science at the Invention Workshop sponsored by Cimko, they have the chance to experience different experiments up close and make a difference with the inventions they design in their own imagination.

Will spread to Turkiye

Skill Development Centers, which were implemented for children affected by the earthquake, will continue their activities for at least 3 more years to provide regular psychosocial support to children in Hatay and Adiyaman and to prevent loss of social and physical skills. In light of the experience gained in this process, the centers are planned to be expanded throughout Turkiye in the near and medium term, especially for children who cannot access quality education. It is expected that 100,000 children will benefit directly and 250,000 children indirectly within 3 years from BEGEMs, which are aimed to contribute regularly to the physical and social development of children.
