BORN FROM THE VITRA-TOM DIXON COLLABORATION: LIQUID

A bathroom collection developed with the collaboration of the British design icon Tom Dixon and VitrA, the Liquid has been introduced with a private invitation organized in Esma Sultan Mansion. The collection has got awards from Wallpaper and Red Dot to this day and returned with a double award with one being gold from iF Design Awards 2022.

The bathroom collection developed with the collaboration of the London Design Medal holder Tom Dixon and VitrA, the Liquid has been launched in Turkey. The collection was launched in Europe first in London and then in the Maison&Objet in Paris and has got awards from the Wallpaper magazine and Red Dot to this day in addition to the double awards with one being gold from iF Design Award 2022. The collection brings Tom Dixon’s mastermind in design and VitrA’s perfection in design and production and introduces round lines and sculptural forms to the bathrooms.

Having his designs taking place in the Victoria & Albert in London, MOMA in New York and the Centre Pompidou in Paris, Tom Dixon is putting his signature under his first bathroom collection with Liquid and the roundabout stool is the symbol of the collection so to speak. Liquid brings the philosophy described as “the expressionist minimalism” by the British designer into the bathrooms and evokes a feeling of permanence with the round lines of the durable white ceramic as well as gaining contrast and clarity to bathroom design with the single-part fixtures and iconic accessories. Offering integral bathroom solutions with tuneful furnitures and wall tiles with several options, the collection brings the influences of Victorian Era bathrooms together with pop art elements. Defined by Tom Dixon as the “contemporary independent from the moment” the collection is offering almost a challenging alternative to the fine-detailed minimalist designs gaining popularity in recent years.

With ceramic sanitarywares, bathroom furniture, mirror, fixture, shower system, bathroom accessories and complementary products, there are 115 sorts of products in 57 models in the Liquid Collection. The iconic stool, bowl and monoblock sink; and also the two-colored mirror, on-ground sink faucet, toilet brush holder and paper holder are among the prominent products in the collection having chromium and glossy black sink faucets. All the tiles in the collection are 20x20 cm in size with glossy surfaces. Designed in 5 colors and 5 patterns as sage green, grey, black, white and marbling, the wall tiles offer endless design possibilities with different tiling alternatives. The sink cabinet with a matt black lacquered body, offers two options comprised of Scandinavian style glass with streak strips or perforated black metal knitting door standing out with its’ durability.

What impressed Dixon is VitrA’s vision and competency

“I think the last thing we want in a bathroom is the hard corners! There’s a roundness in the flow of water. Everything started with this!” says Tom Dixon and when they ask him why he preferred to work with VitrA he replies “I wanted to design an integral system comprised of tiles, fixtures, ceramic sanitarywares, bathroom accessories and furnitures. Very few manufacturers have the competency to achieve this or the vision to be able to combine all of these in a single collection. Along with design and research expertise, it made the process easier to be able to reach a capability of manufacturing the products made of ceramic, acrylic, porcelain and chromium under a single roof. And when we look by the eyes of a user, it’s valuable to reach the products used within the same space from a single point.”

Taking human health, hygiene, ergonomics, safety, high performance and quality along with aesthetics in bathroom design with an integral approach, VitrA is collaborating with famous designers and design offices since the 2000s in order to develop a bathroom experience fitting the needs and tastes of all consumers. To this day, it has brought its’ design, innovation and production competency with the expertise of designers such as Tom Dixon, Arik Levy, Claudio Bellini, Terri Pecora, Sebastian Conran, Christophe Pillet, Matteo Thun and Ross Lovegrove and design offices such as Indeed, NOA, Pentagon Design, Pilots Design, to create an unmatched bathroom experience.
